Cape Town – Five armed men reportedly entered a jewellery shop at Gateway Mall in Durban on Sunday, and used a hammer to break open glass cases before running away with watches and expensive bags.
According to Times Live, police said no shots were fired.
“No shots were fired. No-one was shot or injured. They escaped near the Truworths entry and climbed into a silver Mercedes-Benz with an NP [Pietermaritzburg] registration,” the report quoted the police as saying.
The incident happened at 09:23, News24 reported.
Police in KwaZulu-Natal have since launched a manhunt for the suspects.
“…The tactical team provided details to SAPS who tracked the suspects’ vehicle on the N2 south where the search continues,” police said, according to the report.
