Cape Town – Police are investigating a case involving the shooting death of an alleged foreign national robber.
The incident occurred in Dalmada, outside Polokwane, when two suspects threatened two male victims with a firearm and knife, demanding cash and cellphones.
“Preliminary reports indicate that two male victims were returning from the local spaza shop when two suspects threatened them with a firearm and knife, and demanded cash and cellphones,” said Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, provincial spokesperson for the police in Limpopo.
One victim managed to escape and alerted their landlord, a 40-year-old security officer.

The landlord, armed with his service pistol, arrived at the scene where a scuffle ensued with one of the suspects.
“The 40-year-old man (the landlord) who is a security officer rushed to the scene while carrying his service pistol. Upon arrival, one of the suspects fled the scene on foot and his accomplice was cornered,” said Mashaba.
The suspect, armed with a knife, attempted to stab the landlord, resulting in the suspect being fatally shot.
Police responded to the incident and recovered a toy gun, a knife, and the stolen cellphone from the deceased suspect.
A manhunt is under way for the other suspect.
