Cape Town – A 40-year-old woman suspected of belonging to the Dudula Movement was reportedly beaten by Alexandra residents on Tuesday.
According to News24, the woman was accused of being one of those who evicted RDP beneficiaries from their homes.
The movement was different from Operation Dudula, which was synonymous with Nhlanhla Lux, the report said.
A video showing the incident was shared on social media.
The woman could be seen pleading for her life, saying that she was not part of the movement.
“I am no longer a Dudula member; I am not a Dudula member. I am apologising; I am not a Dudula member,” the woman said.

According to Alexandra CPF chairperson Chris Mabunda the woman along with other Dudula Movement leaders assaulted women from South Africa and evicted them from their homes, Times Live reported.
“They assaulted women who are from SA and some of them sustained injuries. They have been doing it [evictions] and are continuing to do so. In some places, they need money [ask for a bribe]. I can’t say why they are doing it because they are the only ones who know,” said Mabunda as quoted by the report.
The woman was rescued by the police and was taken to hospital under police guard.
She is facing charges of malicious damage to property and public violence.
