Johannesburg — ANC President, Cyril Ramaphosa, promised the party would cover the funeral costs of the bereaved families of those who lost their lives in a tragic bus accident this past weekend.
ANC’s first Deputy General Secretary, Nomvula Mokonyane, reported that six party members who were travelling to the ANC 112th anniversary celebrations, lost their lives when their bus rolled 20 metres down a hill, IOL reported.
According to The Citizen, preliminary accident reports say the buses were travelling in a convoy when the third one hit the second at the rear and lost control before falling down into a gorge, injuring 35 people, while 19 escaped with minor injuries, Limpopo health MEC Phophi Ramathuba, said.

As reported by eNCA, president Cyril Ramaphosa paid a visit to the bereaved families where he confirmed that the ANC would cover the costs of the funerals for those who lost their lives.
“We are deeply saddened by what has happened, and we have said we will take responsibility for all the arrangements that need to be made to put them to rest, and we will take over. Of course, with your cooperation and participation, your guidance and your leadership, in burying them.” Ramaphosa said,
It is believed that the total number of injuries from the accident currently stands at 68, having grown from 57, with 11 still reported to be in hospital.
