Cape Town — The African National Congress’s (ANC) parliamentary caucus has condemned the misinformation peddled against Public Enterprises Minister, Pravin Gordhan.
According to a DPE statement, it expressed it’s indignation over the attempts to confuse the public regarding the way the DPE engages with Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Public Enterprises. The DPE met with the committee on Wednesday over requests for information on the proposed sale of South African Airways (SAA).
The DPE requested to the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee that the meeting be held in camera, and the request was consistent with the rules of parliament which allows for closed meetings under certain circumstances.

The party also distanced Public Enterprises Committee Chairperson Khaya Magaxa from receiving any letters criticising Gordhan over the alleged sale of South African Airways (SAA) to the Takatso Consortium, EWN reported.
United Democratic Movement leader, bantu Holomisa, wrote a letter to President Cyril Ramaphosa calling for Gordhan to be fired. The ANC said the letter was falsely attributed to Public Enterprises Committee Chairperson Khaya Magaxa.
The party expressed its confidence in Gordhan and he denied avoiding accountability saying National Assembly rules made provisions for holding meetings in camera if they are confidential and sensitive in nature.
