Cape Town — The suspect who was arrested for allegedly raping and murdering a six-year-old girl in Soweto, is expected to make his first appearance int he Protea Magistrate’s Court.
He was arrested on Wednesday night after police, community members and media sought to bring him to justice. He is expected to face charges of rape and murder.
According to police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, police consider his arrest a “victory” as many times the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) cases are not acknolwedged, SABC News reported.
“We could not celebrate the young life. We were focused on getting the perpetrator, but now we can get to sit down and reflect of her memories. We wish we would have found him first and asked him some questions, but we are happy he has been arrested unlike not knowing where he is,” Mthombeni adds.
