Cape Town – Police in KwaZulu-Natal say the public will receive an update on the investigation into the murder of hip-hop star Kiernan “AKA” Forbes at the appropriate time.
This follows a report by City Press suggesting that a suspect, allegedly connected to a powerful and feared family involved in taxi operations and construction, is currently being investigated.
The report said the police are also looking into close associates of AKA following his murder outside a restaurant in Durban in February.
Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, AKA’s friend and a celebrity chef, was also shot dead during the incident.
Sources in the security cluster told the publication that AKA and Motsoane were followed from King Shaka International Airport to the Wish on Florida restaurant, The Citizen reported
“The police have already obtained the footage that reveals that there was surveillance by the [alleged] hitmen who later carried out the hit outside the Wish on Florida restaurant in Durban.
“This family is powerful and feared,” said one source, according to the report.
But according to Times Live, police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda dismissed and said: “We have issued a statement saying we need space and time to work. We’ve got no updates. When the time is right, we will make it public.
“There are people who want to destabilise investigations.”
