Cape Town — Five of the seven suspects accused murdering Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Thursday morning to apply for bail.
Lindokuhle Thabani Mkhwanazi (30), Lindani Zenzele Ndimande (35), Siyanda Eddie Myeza (21), Mziwethemba Harvey Gwabeni (36) and Lindokuhle Lindo Ndimande (29), appeared in court again for their bail hearings.
Three of the fives suspects accused put forward tvarious reasons as to why they should be granted bail. Ndimande and Gwabeni did not proceed with their bail application as they were not ready due to pending amendments to their affidavits, The Witness said.
One of the accused, Lindokuhle Mkhwanazi, said he intended to plead not guilty when the matter goes to trial. He requested bail because he needs to support his wife through her pregnancy.

In his affidavit, he said he has strong family ties in Mtubatuba, and also added that he is currently out on R5 000 bail for another murder in December, He was surprised to find out he was linked to AKA’s murder. He added he should get bail because the state had no case against him.
Legal expert Abigail Ngubane says the court has to consider several factors in the bail application of the five accused. He said that when the court evaluates the evidence before the court, the chances that the accused get bail is ‘very slim’, SABC News reported.
It is reported that Mkhwanazi and Ndimande required the services of former National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) head in KZN, advocate Cyril Mlotshwa. Mlotshwa appeared before the Zondo Commission into state capture in 2020, where he testified that he was removed from his post for refusing to turn a blind eye to corruption, EWN reported.
The five men are scheduled to return to court on Monday to continue their bail applications.
