Cape Town – The man alleged to have collided with former president Jacob Zuma’s vehicle last week is scheduled to appear in the Eshowe Magistrates Court in KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred as Zuma’s convoy was en route to his Nkandla home from Eshowe.
The 51-year-old man was alleged to have been driving under the influence.
Zuma emerged unharmed, but his vehicle sustained damage.
The suspect faces charges including drinking and driving, as well as reckless and negligent driving.
Zuma’s party has called for enhanced security, but Police Minister Bheki Cele insists the current security detail is adequate.
Investigations by the police are ongoing.
