Cape Town — South Africans can expect further good news when it comes to petrol prices for August as the Automobile Association (AA) confirmed minor fuel decreases.
With another drop expected for August, it follows two consecutive months of fuel price drops. Petrol dropped by R1.24 in June, and between 99 cents and R1.05 per litre in July.
The latest unaudited data from the Central Energy Fund (CEF) points to a drop in prices across all fuel grades, the AA said. The data revealed that 95 unleaded will drop by around 14 cents per litre and 93 unleaded will drop by nine cents per litre. Diesel is anticipated to drop by 26 cents per litre, EWN reported.
AA spokesperson, Layton Beard, said that fuel is an important part of many South Africans’ monthly budgets and said the main factors behind the decrease are the improving Rand/Dollar exchange rate as well as lower international oil prices.
According to IOL, the projected prices drops mean 95 unleaded would cost R22.35 per litre on the coast and R23.14 per lire inland, while 93 unleaded will drop to R22.74 per litre.
