Cape Town – A seven-year-old child is in critical condition after allegedly being assaulted by their stepfather on a farm in oThongathi, north of Durban.
The stepfather, who fled with a three-year-old child, is now wanted by authorities.
Emergency responders stabilised the injured child, who was transported to a medical facility.
“On Thursday morning, IPSS Medical Rescue responded to reports of an assault of a 7 year old child near Tongaat.
“The 7 year old was found in a critical condition, after reportedly being assaulted by their step father. The child was stabilised by IPSS Medical Rescue Advanced Life Support and transported to a nearby facility for further care.
“The step father then reportedly disappeared with the 3 year old child,” IPSS Medical Rescue Advanced Life Support said.
Search efforts involving police, rescue teams, and community members are underway to locate the missing child.
