+Cape Town – A 68-year-old woman sustained critical injuries after being struck by a car in the parking lot of Ballito Junction shopping centre on Monday.
IPSS Medical Rescue responded to the incident, and advanced life support paramedics stabilised the woman before she was airlifted to a hospital for further treatment.
“The woman was found to be in a critical condition.
“Due to the nature of her injuries, the Air Mercy Service (AMS) helicopter was activated while IPSS Medical Rescue Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise her, intubating and placing her on a ventilator,” IPSS Medical Rescue said in a statement.
“The helicopter landed on the roof of a neighbouring mall, and the patient has been airlifted to a suitable facility for the urgent care she requires.”
The circumstances surrounding the accident remain unclear, and the South African Police Service is investigating.
