Durban — Six suspects were allegedly shot and wounded during a shootout with police in Inanda in KZN during the early hours of the Thursday morning.
SAPS said police were alerted to the whereabouts of suspects who were wanted for a series of robberies, murders, and a carjacking. Intelligence led police to a house in Emachobeni in Inanda. Upon their arrival, suspects responded by spraying bullets towards the police, when police fired back, Brigadier Jay Naicker, said.

“After the shootout, six suspects were found to have suffered fatal gunshot wounds and three more suspects, two men and a 31-year-old woman, were arrested. One police officer was grazed with a bullet on the hand.” Naicker said.
Police recovered two rifles and a shotgun from the suspects, as well as a hijacked vehicle from December 2023. The arrested suspected are expected to appear in court shortly.
According to SABC News, Inanda is notorious for it’s serious crimes, including house robberies and murders. Naicker explained to what happened further, saying police had been monitoring the group for their illicit acts, and detectives followed up on the information received.
Minister of Police Bheki Cele visited the Inanda police station on Thursday morning to address the situation further.
