Cape Town – Rand Water has warned about a planned water outage which will see most areas in Gauteng go without water for an estimated 54-hour from Monday until Wednesday.
This is as a result of work done by their bulk water supplier on their raw water pipe that supplies their Vereeniging water purification plant, Rand Water said in a statement.

“This will unfortunately impact on water supply from the … Eikenhof pump station to the South of Johannesburg, Northern and Western areas as supply will be reduced by 25%. Water supply from the … Zwartkoppies system to the central Central Business District will be also reduced by 50%.
“Water supply reduction will result in poor to no water supply during peak water demands periods in most high laying and high demand areas. Stationary and roaming water tankers will be made available where feasible to reduce the impact to consumers,” the statement read.

The utility urged citizens to use water sparingly and said this was not a complete shutdown but a supply reduction.
Meanwhile, according to EWN, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has warned that all cases set down in the Johannesburg High Court from Monday to Wednesday will have to be postponed.
Only skeleton staff will be on hand to help with license renewals and payments at metro police department offices, the report said.
