Cape Town – A 19-year-old man, Nedzanani Vhugala Thivhilaeli, in Vuwani, Limpopo, has been charged with money laundering after police found R1.6 million in his home.
The Hawks received a tip about suspicious activities at the man’s house and obtained a search warrant, IOL reported.
When the team arrived at the identified house, they found Thivhilaeli at the premises, the report said.
“The search warrant was presented and the team started searching the house. The team recovered three plastics containing cash amounting to over R1.6 million. The suspect was immediately arrested and the recovered money was seized by the Hawks,” the report quoted Limpopo spokesperson for the Hawks, Warrant Officer Lethunya Mmuroa as saying.
The case has been postponed to July 7 for a bail application, while investigations continue.
