Cape Town – An 18-year-old suspect was arrested this week after allegedly murdering two of his family members in Jojweni, Mountfletcher, in the Eastern Cape.
Police said in a statement that the bodies of 19-year-old Sandiswa Dasheka and Nomaza Maveni were discovered laying in a pool of blood.
It is alleged that the complainant had left for town at about 06:00 earlier that morning, and when he returned just after 14:00, he discovered that the two had been shot dead.
“The deceased Sandiswa Dasheka (19) was the complainant’s niece. She was laying in front of the door in a pool of blood with multiple wounds on her body. The second victim, Nomaza Mevani was laying behind the house also in a pool of blood with multiple wounds on her upper body. She was the wife of the complainant and stepmother of the suspect,” police said.
It was also discovered that the cell phones belonging to both deceased were stolen.
“After an intensive investigation by the detectives, the 18-year teenager was arrested and the stolen items were found in his possession as well as other exhibits,” said Captain Ursula Roelofse.
The investigation still continues, said the police.
