Cape Town – In a significant operation against counterfeit goods, a 13-year-old girl was discovered in a liquor outlet during a police raid in Delportshoop on Saturday, 19 October 2024.
The raid led to the arrest of a 38-year-old foreign national and the confiscation of counterfeit goods valued at approximately R48,634.

The teams acted on intelligence regarding the alleged sale of counterfeit goods, conducting searches of identified liquor outlets and shops in the area.
“During the search of a liquor outlet, a 13-year-old girl was found on the premises, and it was established that she was in a relationship with the owner.
“The 38-year-old foreign national was arrested,” Ehlers said.
In addition to the arrest, police seized a range of counterfeit goods, including liquor, illicit cigarettes, and counterfeit medicines, along with expired products.
Multiple fines totaling R8,500 were issued for violations of the Counterfeit Goods Act 37/1997 and the Gambling and Liquor Act 6/2024.
