Cape Town – An 11-year-old boy and a man, 42, were killed in a suspected gang-related shooting in the Cape Flats in Cape Town on Friday.
The boy and the man died after being shot in Shepherd Way, Lavender Hill.
“One person was injured and is recovering in hospital, police spokesperson, police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said
Van Wyk said police were investigating two cases of murder and one of attempted murder.
“Circumstances surrounding this shooting incident are under investigation. The motive can be gang-related,” he said.
In a separate incident, Western Cape police opened a case of double attempted murder after two off-duty Constables aged 29 and 30 were shot and injured, while on their way home on Friday.

The incident occurred in Khayelitsha at about 20:30, Van Wyk said in a statement.
“Two off-duty Constables aged 29 and 30 were shot and injured, while on their way home. They were driving a marked police vehicle when they were at the traffic lights and their vehicle was shot at. Both members were injured and taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment,” said Van Wyk.
Police had since activated a 72-hour plan to nab the perpetrators.
“The assistance of the Khayelitsha community is sought in identifying and locating the unknown suspects who attacked the two police Constables.
“Anyone with information that could assist in expediting the investigation is urged to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or by using MySAPS app,” Van Wyk said.
