Summitting Africa’s tallest mountain may soon be easier than before, should plans to introduce a cable car come to fruition.
The Tanzanian government is conducting feasibility studies to assess the financial and logistical implications of a cable car service on Mount Kilimanjaro. According to Reuters, it is hoped a cable car will boost tourism figures, which already stand at around 50 000 visitors per annum.
Tourism is one of Tanzania’s biggest sectors, raising US$2.43 billion in revenue in 2018.
