1 million young Africans are poised to receive a full year of training in digital skills – for free – in a bid to alleviate unemployment. This will enable South Africans (300 000), Kenyans (200 000) and Nigerians (400 000) – with the remaining 100 000 people selected from other sub-Saharan countries – to manage their online profile, develop a professional persona and potentially start their own business.
According to an AFKInsider report, two training programmes (in a partnership between Google and South African non-profit youth job skills organisation Livity Africa) will be presented. Digify Bytes will offer young people the digital skills they need to develop a career in the field, while Digify Pro comprises a three-month immersion programme designed for digital specialists.
