Tanzania’s Energy Department is collaborating with Ugandan energy experts on several oil exploration projects.
According to AllAfrica, Tanzania, which has yet to find oil, is teaming up with Uganda to gain better insight into finding the valuable resource after the latter country discovered deposits in Lake Albert, which straddles the border between Uganda and the DRC.
Tanzanian Energy Minister Medard Kalemani says the nation has already ‘discovered gas in the southern parts of the country’, adding that oil exploration is in progress.
Talks between Tanzania and Uganda regarding the Hoima-Tanga pipeline, which will transport oil between the two countries, are scheduled to resume in June this year.
