Enhanced online safety was under the spotlight when Nigeria officially recognised National Cyber Security Awareness month in October. This focus is at the heart of Facebook’s newly redesigned Safety Centre, which aims to ensure Nigerians’ safety online and make the internet more secure.
According to a Biztech report, the popular social media site performs automated checks to help detect suspicious logins to protect users’ accounts, as well as cryptography to ensure the secure operation of mobile devices. In addition, the company’s built-in security protection helps keep people safe even under non-ideal circumstances, which security professionals often overlook, such as weak passwords or out-of-date devices.
Furthermore, Facebook also works with partners, including the International Centre for Leadership Development in Nigeria and Watoto Watch Network in Kenya, to continually address local communities and bring online safety resources to life.
