The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has launched two new apps in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Its Contacts-Tracing Solution, which is ready to be deployed, will enable users to track visitors to all NNPC locations. ‘Should there be any medical challenge, the NNPC Medical would be able to track from the information on the database all the contacts and advise properly,’ says Danladi Inuwa, group GM of the corporation’s IT division. According to a company statement, staff members can also use the app to document visitors to their homes.

NNPC subsidiary Petroleum Products Marketing Company has also launched a sales and distribution app called Customer Express on its Oil and Gas Secondary Model Portal that will enable marketers to order petroleum products online. This move is expected to reduce human contact in the procurement process. Marketers can register, validate and re-validate their bulk purchase agreements online within a week, and the NNPC is able to track all products that are sold, imported or are in transit at any given time.
