Anyone who thought smuggling a rhino or any other wildlife out of South Africa is an easy task should think again. Especially not with the new ZAR38 million cargo container scanner that has been installed at the Port of Cape Town.
Complete with radiation and x-ray technology, the scanner will be coupled with sniffer dogs to also root out contraband copper and other illegal substances, such as cocaine.
According to a MyBroadband report, the scanner took nearly a year and a half to set up – 10 months of that included site preparation while actual construction of the scanner took half a year.
