In Ethiopia, a second nationwide COVID vaccination roll-out is under way, with this one including booster shots.
According to the nation’s Minister of Health, Lia Tadesse, more than 10 million Ethiopians had been vaccinated by mid-February, of which 4 million are now fully vaccinated.
In a government statement, she adds that ‘the pandemic has led to widespread social, economic and psychological crises, and continues to be a major source of national concern and burden to the health delivery system’.
This second-round COVID-19 vaccination campaign targets citizens, aged 12 and above, who are unvaccinated, partially vaccinated, and those qualify for booster shots six months after full vaccination.
