Morocco has received seven freezers able to store a total of more than 2 million COVID-19 vaccine doses.
The shipment of freezers, which account for 45% of the country’s ultra-cold chain storage capacity, was facilitated by the US embassy, the US Agency for International Development and Unicef. The donation is part of a US$20 million investment by the US in Morocco’s COVID-19 response.
The North African nation will also receive in excess of 1.5 million Pfizer doses in the coming weeks.
An estimated 23 million Moroccan citizens have been fully vaccinated to date.
