Cape Town – The Constitutional Court has dismissed with costs, former president Jacob Zuma’s rescission application, saying he did not meet the statutory requirements of a rescission application.
The apex court sentenced Zuma to 15 months in jail at the end of June, for ignoring a court order to testify before a judicial panel probing corruption during his nine-year tenure which lasted until 2018.

In July, Zuma’s legal team filed an urgent application to have his prison term rescinded, arguing that the sentence was an infringement on his right to a fair trial.
But, handing down judgment on Friday, Judge Sisi Khampepe said: “The majority finds that he failed to show why the judgment was erroneous. Zuma has not met the statutory requirements of a rescission.”
Zuma was recently granted medical parole by the correctional services department. This was despite the medical advisory board having said that he did not qualify.
