Cape Town – Five people died on the scene while another succumbed to injuries on arrival at the hospital following a mass shooting in Site C Khayelitsha on Sunday evening, reports said on Monday.
According to News24, it was alleged that five unknown men believed to be in their 30s were shot and found dead at the scene while the sixth person died on arrival at the hospital due to injuries.
The report quoted Western Cape police spokesperson, Brigadier Novela Potelwa, as saying that the incident happened after 20:00 on the corner of Maphongwana and Idada Avenues in Site C.
“Organised crime detectives are hard at work, busy with an investigation which was initiated immediately. Details of the deceased persons are currently being determined,” Potelwa said.

Western Cape MEC for Community and Safety, Reagan Allen and Provincial police Commissioner, Thembisile Patekile visited the area.
EWN quoted the Khayelitsha Development Forum as saying: “The people of Khayelitsha are tired. As the Khayelitsha Development Forum, we are tired of passing messages of condolences.
Reports indicated that the this was the third mass killing in Khayelitsha since March this year, with five shot dead in Endlovini informal settlement in March followed by six others who were shot dead in Enkanini informal settlement just a few days apart.
