Cape Town — Facing backlash after backlash, Miss SA 2024 finalist Chidimma Adetshina now finds herself contending with yet another issue, this time stemming from a video and photos that have resurfaced her previous wedding ceremony for all of Mzansi to see.
Despite Chidimm’s transparency about her divorce and ongoing journey as a single mom, she is now facing the short end of the stick as her pageantry validity is brought into question yet again.
Shooting up the trends list over on X, the South African beauty contestant’s wedding video was posted by MDN News on Sunday and has since left a sour taste in the mouths of many.

Upon this new revelation, South Africans ran to the comment section, expressing their shock at her participation in a traditional Nigerian wedding and their growing displeasure at her continued presence in the competition.
Questions surrounding her marriage had also been probed, with South Africans divided on whether a married individual should be permitted to compete or not.

Now she’s Nigerian due to her husbands surname or she was giving the fellow countryman citizenship? pic.twitter.com/qDEvCFlFQT

Yooooh yazin the bar is too low… Miss SA should be condemned for allowing married women and foreign nationals.
I’m so disappointed

If this contestant wins Miss SA 2024 or even gets closer to winning it, that will be extremely unfair to other contestants…

Though many South Africans aren’t aware, Chidimma has consistently opened up about her divorce and honing her role as a mother to a one-year-old baby boy.
When speaking to the Sowetan, she shared her reasoning behind posing a separation from her former husband and emphasised that her parents fully supported her decision.
“I got divorced in February. We were not compatible because he had this ideology of what an African married woman is. I didn’t want to be in a position where I can’t go out, but had to clean, cook. That was just not for me because as a society, we are way past that phase” the report quoted her as saying.
“My parents have been very supportive and although my marriage robbed me from enjoying the beauty of pregnancy and being a wife. Overall, it brings me joy that I get to take new steps with my son,” she said.
