Cape Town – South African singer Lira joyfully celebrated her first award since overcoming a stroke.
The award was awarded to her by the Indian Consulate General during a ceremony held on International Women’s Day.
Taking to Instagram, Lira expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the honour.
“And then I went to accept this award at the event by the Consulate General of India, Manesh Kumar on International Women’s Day.
“The event was to commemorate women who have shown outstanding achievements in their specific fields. It was the first award I received since having a stroke. Then I gave a speech. God is so good ” she captioned the post.
Lira, who is turning 45 on 14 March, lost the power of speech when she had a stroke in 2022 while in Germany, but she has since learnt to talk again.
