WATCH | Video of police officers swiftly dealing with knife-wielding robber goes viral

Cape Town – A video of police officers rescuing a man who had been robbed of his shopping bag by a man wielding a knife has gone viral on social media.

The victim is seen trying to retrieve the bag from the robber before another man comes into the frame and grabs the bag from the suspect.

Moments later, a Toyota Quantum pulls up next to the men, and it is full of police officers who appear to be from the Tactical Response Team (TRT).

In no time, the knife-wielding robber is manhandled to the ground and the officers are seen beating him.

Police could not confirm where the incident occurred, but social media users suggested that it happened in Klerksdorp.

“Looking at the quantum, it’s an unmarked vehicle that is used by the police, I can’t even say which TRT unit it is. It is difficult to make an identification,” IOL quoted North West police spokesperson Colonel Adele Myburgh as saying.

Many on social media were impressed by the police’s swift response, while some hoped to see more of the police’s swift action against crime.
