Cape Town – During Sonia Mbele’s interview at King David studio podcast, the actress shared a story involving her first child’s father.
In a snippet from the interview uploaded by user @ZamaNdosiCele18, the actress revealed that she had to shoulder the roles of both a mother and a father for her son.
While she refrained from disclosing the man’s name, she did reveal the duration of their relationship which she said was nine years.
The actress went on to narrate an encounter at a grocery store in Mellville, shedding light on the story of what unfolded between them.
she said that her basket was filled with all sorts of baby items.
“I remember bumping into him at..um because SABC was closer to Melville and there was a supermarket at Melville, I was there to buy groceries but now you can see in the basket its NAN its Nestum, Purity,Nappies.”

“So my son was nine months old and am there ngiyathenga (am buying) and Eh! Sonia, I turned around he’s like what are you doing here.”
She then told him that was a Supermarket and she further shared that was a man she was with for years.
“Its a supermarket isn’t and this is a man I was with for nine years by the way.”
He then looked into her trolley and instead of telling the cashier that he would pay for the baby goods, he passed her and went to the cigarette counter, returned holding a brown paper bag
“He goes to the cigarette counter to pay because Ngimchithela iskhathi ngama napken omntwana akhe (Am waisting his time with his child’s nappies) an then he comes with a brown back with biltong.”
He gave her the brown bag telling her that she must give it to the child and She refused the biltong told him to keep it.
“Uzo nikeza umfana (you will give the boy)..akana mazinyo( he doesn’t have teeth) so its fine you can keep it.”
“My son was nine months old. He didn’t have teeth at the time,” she added.
