Cape Town – KwaZulu-Natal police released the latest update regarding rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes’ murder during a media briefing of the quarterly crimes statistics in Cape Town.
AKA passed away on February 10 after he was gunned down outside a restaurant on Florida road in Durban.
Since then no arrests have been made, police said.
In a broadcast by eNCA, KZN police commissioner, Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi said they believed that the data from the cellphones they seized will help with the investigation.
He said they obtained several statements from people they interviewed in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.

“We have collected cellphones, and we are busy downloading some data; we have also collected several videos from different CCTV cameras that we could find, and that could assist us.
“We have also received our completed ballistic reports from forensics. So, there’s quite a lot of work that the team is still busy with. The viewing of the footage and analysis of the material that has been downloaded from the cellphones are still ongoing.” said Mkhwanazi.
He said they are still putting all their evidence together to ensure they have a solid case.
Meanwhile, AKA’s memorial service was held on Friday, 17 February. Those in attendance mourned the rapper’s death and celebrated his life.
