Cape Town – Former satanist, Riaan Swiegelaar, who has been a member of the South African Satanic Church (SASC) for about five years, has resigned from the church.
The co-founder of the SASC said he left the satanic church after he was shown “unconditional love” by four Christians and had month-long conversations with God.
In a 34 minutes long live video on his Facebook page, an emotional Swiegelaar talked about how he had never known unconditional love and the constant feeling of not being worthy of God’s love because he was gay.
He said he had hoped to “quietly slip out the back door” when leaving the satanic church but a lot of people wanted to know his reasons for leaving the church so he decided to do a live video to tell what he called “his truth”.
Swiegelaars said his journey back to Christianity began about two months ago when he was hugged by a lady at the radio station right after he had bashed Christianity during a radio interview.
“She held me in a way that I have never been loved. That’s all she did. She just said it was nice to meet me in person. A week later, I saw on WhatsApp that she is a Christian. I’ve never had a Christian showing me so much love and acceptance unconditionally. That stayed with me,” he said.
He said that a week after the encounter, he had to perform his satanic rituals and that’s when Jesus appeared to him and spiraled his month-long conversations with God.
He said, the feeling was something different and explained why he ended up being a satanist.
“I have for a long time believed that I am not worthy of God’s grace because I’m gay and I have certain abilities.
He went on to talk about God’s unconditional love, while weeping and smiling in between.
