Police expressed disappointment over the incident, and said that an internal disciplinary case has been opened against the officer involved.
“The management of SAPS in Gauteng has noted with disappointment the video circulating on social media whereby a uniformed police woman is seen slapping a member of the public in Tsakane police station,” police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said.
“This behaviour is uncalled for and the SAPS code of conduct advocates for clients to be treated with respect and integrity at all times. Both the Sergeant and the member of public have opened cases of assault and crimen injuria against each other.
“An internal disciplinary case will also be opened against the Sergeant.”
