Cape Town – Police Minister Bheki Cela has reportedly acknowledged that he could have handled himself better following a heated argument between himself and Action Society’s Ian Cameron.
A video of Cele screaming at Cameron during a community meeting in Gugulethu on Tuesday has been trending on social media.
In the video Cele repeatedly asked Cameron to “shut up” and asked him to “sit down” or “get out”.
This was after Cameron accused the minister of politicising crime and claimed that ordinary South Africans affected by high crime rates were unconcerned about his views on the constitution and devolution.
You caught feelings because Ian Cameron said, “nonsense”. He never called your mother kitchen girl or your father garden boy & through all the videos – we’ve never seen a table that @IanCameron23 banged either. Liar Liar pants on fire Bheki Cele #CeleMustVoetsek pic.twitter.com/Udv6gTCWrC

IOL reported that Cele was questioned about the incident by the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security Cluster on Friday.
“The robust and others, yes, could have happened a better way by both the people rendering respect,” the report quoted Cele as saying.
He claimed that the Action Society director was respected when he addressed the panel at the meeting but when it was his turn to speak, Cameron could not contain himself and spoke.
Following their “shouting match”, Cameron was forced out of the crime community meeting by police.
