Cape Town – Police reportedly arrested a 50-year-old man who allegedly assaulted a 16-year boy and pointed a gun at him during an argument over salt seasoning at a food outlet in Groblersdal, Limpopo.
Reports said the suspect became angry after the teenager, named Kopano and his sibling requested to use the seasoning he was using.
The man demanded to use the seasoning first, and an argument ensued.
“The suspect then became furious and started assaulting the teenager while pointing him with a firearm. The other shoppers watched helplessly as the suspect assaulted the boy until he eventually left him lying on the ground,” News24 quoted police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo as saying.
The video of the incident that happened on Wednesday in Groblersdal Limpopo went viral on social media.

In the video, the suspect could be seen dragging, kicking and stomping the teenager with a gun in his hand.
The unarmed teenager tried to cover himself with his arms while the suspect continued to pounce on him.
SowetanLive reported that Kopano’s family opened a case after the teenager was taken to hospital.
“Seeing that video broke my heart. I cannot even bring myself to watch it again,” Kopano’s mother, Julia Makweng, Sowetan quoted her as saying.
The suspect was set to appear at the Groblerdal Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH) and pointing of a firearm, reported The Citizen.
