Cape Town – Big Nuz’s Mampintsha has passed away at the age of 40 after suffering a stroke a week ago.
DJ Tira took to Twitter to share the sad news.
Mampintsha’s death comes a week after he suffered a stroke.
Afrotainment released a press statement in which it confirmed that the artist had a stroke.
“The star as he is affectionately known as Mampintsha, from multi-award winning group Big Nuz has suffered a minor stroke a week ago upon his return from a performance with Big Nuz,” it wrote in a statement.

In a more recent statement by Afrotainment, the label confirmed the death of the musical star.
“It is with great sadness that we share the news of the untimely passing of multi-award winning artist, Mampintsha.
“Born Mandla Maphumulo from Umlazi, KZN of Big Nuz passed on today, 24 December 2022.
“Details on the memorial and funeral arrangements will be shared by the family in due course. The family asks that the public and media respect their privacy as they deal with this difficult loss.
“We ask that you keep his wife Bongekile Maphumulo, their son and their family in your prayers and Afrotainment sends it’s heartful condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.“
