Cape Town – An emotional and sobbing Rosa Onious poured her heart out, as she spoke about her late partner Jamie Barlett’s loving and gentle nature at his memorial held in Zone 6 Soweto on Monday.
Jamie, who was well known for his character David Genaro on eTV’s Rhythm City and Mike O’Reilly on SABC3’s Isidingo, died last month after suffering a cardiac arrest.
Onious reminisced about their first date and their plans to travel and said she couldn’t picture her life without him, reported TimesLive
“Jamie and I loved to travel, we had plans this year to go places, business … but God had other plans. I’m angry, I’m sad, but I’m trying to understand that there is a purpose for him wherever he is. A part of the house still smells like him and it’s difficult,” the report quoted her as saying.
She also spoke about the love and support the actor exuded for everyone around him.
Famous actors and fellow coworkers of Jamie who attended the memorial in Soweto where the late veteran actor reportedly frequented to mingle with his fans and enjoy township culture, shared Onious’ sentiments, reported Drum.
Actor Mpho Molepo who starred in Rhythm City along with Jamie shared how the iconic actor became a part of his family, remembering how the star once drove all the way from Free State to attend his wedding.
“He came to my family unveilings. He frequented Soweto. When he came to our family gatherings and funerals, you would find him wearing an apron helping oomama (the mothers) dish up,” Molepo said, as per the report.
The legendary actor’s funeral was held at the St George’s Cathedral in Cape Town on June 2.
