Cape Town – The Border Management Authority (BMA) reportedly intercepted a substantial quantity of Rohypnol, commonly known as the “date-rape” drug, at the OR Tambo International Airport cargo terminal.
According to the IOL the BMA spokesperson, Mmemme Mogotsi, revealed that 8.1 kilograms of Rohypnol had arrived on a flight from Nigeria, cleverly concealed within a consignment of dried fish.
“The operation uncovered the consignment which arrived in a flight from the Republic of Nigeria. A case is being registered with the South African Police Service,” the report quoted Mogotsi as saying.

The BMA, responsible for overseeing and securing the nation’s borders, hailed this operation as a “major drug bust”.
Rohypnol, is classified as a Schedule 6 drugs which are the most dangerous drugs of all the drug schedules with potentially severe psychological or physical dependence, as reported by Times Live
