Cape Town – It has been two years since Media personality Pearl Modiadie gave birth to her bundle of joy, but she still can’t get “over the trauma of the epidural needle insertion”.
In a recent tweet, the mother of one explained that the trauma she experience was one of the reasons she won’t be having baby number two any time soon.
Pearl gave birth to her son Lewatle with the assistance of an epidural needle, a local anaesthetic often used during childbirth, reported TimesLive.
“Almost two years in and I still can’t get over the trauma of the epidural needle insertion. The feeling afterwards makes up for it, but I can feel it all over again when I watch my birth video. Issa lot mate!” she wrote.

She was backed by other mothers who also went through the same process in their labour.
Adebate around unmedicated childbirth and the epidural and other medicated routes started in her comments section.
Some women detailed how they never felt the same after giving birth – from chronic back pains to lingering trauma.
One user, asked when Pearl was considering having a second baby and she responded: “When I eventually forget all about this experience MaKhumalo.”

I need an intense back rub from time to time! The struggle is definitely real.

I’m 48 this year and I have a chronic backpain because of epidural, had I known, I would have endured the pain rather than taking epidural, I regret.
