Cape Town – Kwaggafontein police station in Mpumalanga was reportedly robbed at gunpoint on Wednesday night.
A report said that a group of unknown suspects entered the police station at around 22:00.
They held the officers on duty captive and proceeded to rob the station.
“Emanating from the attack on the Kwaggafontein police station yesterday at around 10pm the provincial commissioner of SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant-General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, has ordered the mobilisation of maximum resources to ensure that those who are behind the attack are immediately brought to book,” Times Live quoted police spokesperson Brigadier Shelvy Mohlala as saying.

Police did not give any further details regarding the matter.
However, according to anti-crime activist Yusuf Abramjee, the station was robbed by six gunmen who fled the scene with “five shotguns, rifles, four pistols, four and four cellphones. 83 rounds for R5 rifles, 25 rounds for pistols, 250 rounds for pump gun and a bullet proof”.

No arrests have been made in relation to the robbery.
