Cape Town – Reports alleged that the nanny at the home of Nigerian superstar, Davido has been detained after questioning following the death of Davido’s three-year-old son.
The toddler, Ifeanyi allegedly drowned in a swimming pool at the Nigerian singer’s Banana Island residence in Lagos State on Tuesday, November 1, reports said.
At the time of the tragic incident, it is alleged the singer and the boy’s mother, Chioma Rowland were away attending a family gathering.
BBC reported that an employee working for the award-winning singer called the police at 21:00 on Monday.
According to Nigerian police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, eight members of staff had been invited in for questioning – and anyone with a case to answer would be arrested.

“We are reviewing the CCTV cameras to get additional information about the circumstances of his death. His body has been deposited in the morgue. We are in touch with his parents. In fact, they were with us last night,” the report quoted Hungeyin as saying.
The rest of the employees were later released, except for the nanny and the cook who were responsible for the wellbeing of the toddler, reported Modern Ghana.
“It was the work of the nanny to take care of the child (Ifeanyi), the nanny was negligent.
“The boy left the house, walked to the back where the swimming pool is situated and fell into the swimming pool. Nobody noticed until much later. At this point in time, he had drowned and was at the bottom of the swimming pool,” the report quoted a source.
The boy was rushed to Lagoon hospital where doctors tried to revive him but were unsuccessful. Later, he was rushed to Evercare hospital where he was declared dead, the report said.
Davido and the mother of the boy have yet to comment on the tragedy.
