Cape Town – A 48-year-old woman from Leshikishiki village in Lebowakgomo, Limpopo, was arrested for the brutal murder of her 18-year-old wheelchair-bound son.
Allegedly, she decapitated him.
The motive for the attack remains unknown.
Police responded to a report of the murder at about 1pm on Friday.
“There were no people found on the scene. Police commenced with initial investigations and the deceased’s mother was located. After thorough investigations, she was positively linked to the murder of her son and arrested,” Mashaba said.
A knife believed to have been used in the murder was seized.
Limpopo police commissioner Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe expressed shock at the incident, condemning the mother’s actions.
The suspect is set to appear in court soon.
