Cape Town – A mass shooting in Durban has resulted in the deaths of five people, and the police suspect a possible connection to drug-related activities.
The incident occurred at the Tambo Plaza in the Amaoti area, with all victims in their twenties found with multiple gunshot wounds inside a house.
According to police spokesperson Brigadier Jay Naicker, it appears that unknown suspects arrived in a getaway vehicle to carry out the attack.
“When police officers arrived at the scene they found the bodies of five men in a RDP house.
“It was established that all five deceased were in the house when they were shot by unknown suspects who arrived in a getaway vehicle,” Naicker said.
A sixth victim with a hand injury was taken to the hospital.
The incident is part of a recent increase in shootings and murders in eThekwini, with another recent vigilante hit in KwaMashu, and the killing of a KwaZulu-Natal police officer and a wanted suspect during a shootout in Ntuzuma C Section.
