Durban — One person died and another 16 received serious injuries after a truck collided with six trucks and five other vehicles in an accident on the N3 South near the Mariannhill toll plaza in Kwa-Zulu Natal (KZN) on Friday evening.
It is alleged that the truck was travelling from Zimbabwe when the accident occurred, with the reported death reported to be the truck driver, TimesLIVE reported.
“Regrettably, we are starting the long weekend on a very negative note. This follows a multiple vehicle crash just before Mariannhill Toll Plaza on the N3,” KwaZulu-Natal transport MEC Siboniso Duma said.
Duma requested that motorists avoid the area and use alternative routes to avoid any delays while travelling towards the Mariannhill Plaza.
