Cape Town – A teacher, who allegedly raped a 12-year-old boy at the school at which he teaches, was reportedly denied bail by the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court this week.
Bongani Timothy Ntuli appeared in court on Wednesday.
Reports indicated that boy’s mother noticed some behavioural changes in her child.
“Ntuli is facing a charge of raping a Grade 6 learner from his school. It is alleged on 5 May 2022, the mother of the 12-year-old boy noticed some behavioural changes in the child, as he was not eating his favourite food,” IOL quoted Gauteng regional spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority Lumka Mahanjana as saying.

The child was also struggling to sleep and was bleeding.
The mother further noticed that some money was missing from her account and asked her son who said he had taken the money to buy the accused teacher a Playstation 4 so that he would stop “bullying him”, The South African reported.
“In court, the accused asked to be released on bail. However, prosecutor Lorinda van Pittius told the court that it was not in the best interest of justice for the accused to be released on bail because he was not yet suspended at the school and he might pose a threat to the victim,” said Authority spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana, according to News24:
The matter was postponed to June 13.
