Mozambique border post operations have been suspended over lack of health teams to validate Covid-19 tests, a report says.
South Africans travelling to Mozambique have been urged to use alternative crossings after operations at the Ponta do Oura border Post have been suspended over Covid-19.
According to BBC, Mozambique suspended operations in Ponta do Ouro border crossing over lack of health teams to validate Covid-19 tests.
The report said Maputo provincial health authorities were on high alert to prevent the Delta variant identified in South Africa from spreading into Mozambique.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on Sunday reimposed restrictions for two weeks in his country, to combat a surge in the highly contagious coronavirus Delta variant.

South Africa was the worst-hit country on the continent as it was “facing a massive resurgence of infection”.
“Our health facilities are stretched to the limit… ICU beds are in short supply,” he said as he placed the country on alert level four, just one level below a full lockdown.
Ramaphosa banned all gatherings, except for funerals where numbers will be capped at 50, and also ordered a ban on the sale of alcohol.
Eateries and restaurants will not be allowed to serve sit-down meals, and will only be allowed to sell food for take-away or delivery.
