Two of South Africa’s business schools have made it onto the list for the top 150 MBA programmes from around the globe.
The University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business (UCT GSB) is listed 97th on the 2025 QS Quacquarelli Symonds rankings for its global MBA, and is the only African business school in the top 100. Businesstech reports that Wits Business School is ranked between 101 and 150 on the global MBA list; however, its Master’s in Management ranked 77th.
The two business schools were among 340 global MBAs that were assessed.
The QS Global MBA and Business Master’s Rankings are chosen from institutions spanning 58 countries. The top three positions were retained for the fifth consecutive year by Stanford Graduate School of Business, the Wharton School and Harvard Business School, respectively. All are based in the US.
Earlier this year, UCT GSB was ranked first in Africa and the Middle East in the 2024 QS Executive MBA (EMBA) rankings. It also achieved top spot for Employer Reputation in those rankings.
“We are beyond proud of this year’s QS ranking,” Camille Meyer, programme director of the GSB’s EMBA, said at the time.
“Because the Employer Reputation ranking essentially measures the employability of our graduates by top corporates, it is a reflection of the high regard that business leaders and decision makers have of our EMBA,” she said.
The EMBA differs from traditional MBAs in that it encourages candidates to go beyond theory and embrace authentic engagement, resilience and purpose in their roles as business leaders.
