South African small businesses in the insurance field are getting a helping hand.
Corporate insurance carrier Allianz Commercial South Africa is working with enterprise and supplier development (ESD) facilitator Virtue ESD to run a development programme for loss adjusters, reports Africa Business Communities.
The Allianz Loss Adjusters Development programme is part of the insurer’s efforts to include more black-owned small and medium-sized businesses in its supply chain and to develop the wider economy.
Allianz Commercial South Africa CEO Thusang Mahlangu says the programme, which was first rolled out in 2019, is built on global best practice, “ensuring the scalability and sustainability of the entrepreneurs and small business suppliers involved”.
He says the programme has so far assisted six SMEs with business strategy, sales training, marketing, finance, HR and legal, ICT and system support, personal development and systems and processes. All six are now part of the company’s supply chain, providing loss adjusting services.
The SMEs, many of them with ten-plus years’ experience, include: SailOut Loss Adjusters, Rixile Loss Adjusters, Di Teelo and AdjustPro Insurance Loss Adjusters.
